NYC Volkswagen Jetta Lease Deals
The 2017 Volkswagen Jetta has a consistently dedicated following, as it’s one of Volkswagen’s best-selling cars in the United States. This model year features strong engine options, an elegant cabin and plenty of customization choices to increase its luxury factor.
The Jetta is offered with three engine options that all offer a substantial amount of power and efficiency. Standard is the 1.4L turbocharged four-cylinder that produces up to 150 horsepower and 184 lbs-ft of torque. It gets excellent fuel economy as well, up to 40 mpg on the highway and 28 mpg for city driving.
The next option is the 1.8L turbocharged engine, also four-cylinder. This model features Volkswagen’s unique water-cooled exhaust to help increase efficiency and performance. It makes 20 more horsepower at 170 and the same amount of torque, 184 lbs-ft. It’s excellent for morning cold starts as the engine reaches operating temperature much more quickly because the exhaust manifold is located within the cylinder head, as explained in this video. It makes 25 mpg city, 35 highway.
The third engine option for the 2017 Jetta is the 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 210 horsepower with premium fuel and 207 lbs-ft of torque. It makes an impressive 33mpg on the highway and 23 mpg average in stop and go city traffic.
These engine choices can be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic with Tiptronic (lets you shift gears like a manual) and Sport mode technologies. For the S and SE trims, the manual transmission is standard, with the auto transmission available for additional money. The SEL trim has the auto transmission standard.
Trim Level Options
Standard on the S trim, the base level model, is a rear backup camera, Bluetooth capability, a 5-inch touchscreen interface with four-speaker sound system. The Jetta sits on 16-inch wheels. Alloy wheels are optional, as are heated front seats.
The next level up, the SE, features appealing upgrades such as a sunroof, keyless entry and ignition, heated leather seats, a 6.3-inch touchscreen interface and Volkswagen’s smartphone integration technology. It also includes safety features like blind spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alerts which both visually and audibly alert the driver when someone is either in their blind spot or crossing behind their vehicle as they reverse.
The top-level trim for the Jetta, the SEL, adds to the SE features with:
- the 1.8L four-cylinder turbo engine standard
- adaptive cruise control, which uses sensors and radar to control the speed of your vehicle to keep a safe distance between you and the car in front of you when cruise control is enabled on the highway.
- cooled glovebox
- navigation system
- six-speaker audio system
- forward collision warning, which automatically stops the vehicle in the event of an imminent collision.
Finally, the performance-oriented GLI comes with most of the features in the SEL, except it includes the above-mentioned 2L turbocharged engine as standard equipment. It also has a sport-tuned suspension and premium audio system made by Fender.
The Volkswagen Jetta remains an excellent choice for those in the market for a small, economical sedan and is offered at a reasonable price when you consider the available premium options.
